Rule: Suffixes: -making plurals out of words ending in -f and -y: -ves, -ies.
Hint: To make most nouns plural, you add -s to the end of the word. When a noun ends in -y, drop the -y and add -ies for the plural form. When a noun ends in -f, drop the -f and ad -ves to the plural form of the word. (in most cases, not all)
1. hail- n. Pellets of frozen rain 2. social- n. An informal gathering 3. height- n. The measurement from base to top, or head to foot 4. patrol- n. A person or people went to keep watch over an area 5. sought- v. attempt to find 6. deafen- v. overwhelmed with the sound of a loud noise
